3 November 2026 | Switzerland
On 3 November 2026, eduCYBER Sàrl delivered an interactive online cybersecurity awareness workshop for entrepreneurs and alumni of SINGA Switzerland, as part of the SINGA BRIDGE programme.
Led by Kamal Sedra, Founder and Managing Director of eduCYBER, the 90-minute workshop, Cybersecurity Essentials for Entrepreneurs, focused on helping entrepreneurs and small-business owners understand digital threats and strengthen their cybersecurity practices without requiring advanced technical knowledge.
Making Cybersecurity Practical for Entrepreneurs
For startups and small businesses, cybersecurity is not simply a technical concern. A compromised email account, fraudulent invoice, or loss of customer data can disrupt operations, create financial losses, and damage customer trust.
The workshop explored these challenges through practical examples, interactive discussions, and phishing identification exercises. Participants examined realistic suspicious emails, LinkedIn messages, fraudulent payment requests, and communications impersonating Swiss authorities and well-known companies.
The session covered several essential cybersecurity practices:
- Recognising phishing and social engineering: Identifying suspicious messages, fraudulent requests, and manipulation techniques.
- Protecting digital accounts: Using strong, unique passwords, password managers, and multi-factor authentication (MFA).
- Securing business information: Understanding backups, access controls, and basic data protection measures.
- Understanding Swiss responsibilities: Introducing key obligations relating to personal data protection.
- Responding to incidents: Knowing the immediate steps to take when a business account or system is compromised.
Throughout the workshop, the emphasis was on affordable, practical, and actionable cybersecurity measures that entrepreneurs can integrate into their everyday business activities.
Supporting the SINGA Entrepreneurial Community
As a SINGA alumnus himself, Kamal Sedra welcomed the opportunity to return to the community and share his cybersecurity experience with fellow entrepreneurs.
The workshop reflects eduCYBER’s commitment to making cybersecurity knowledge accessible to startups, SMEs, civil society organisations, and other groups that may not have dedicated technical security resources.
eduCYBER thanks SINGA Switzerland for organising the session and the participating entrepreneurs for their engagement and contributions to the discussions.
Introducing SCORA: A Practical Cybersecurity Assessment for SMEs
During the workshop, participants were also introduced to SCORA, a cybersecurity assessment platform developed as a joint project between eduCYBER and Security Circles.
SCORA helps organisations better understand their cybersecurity readiness, identify areas for improvement, and prioritise practical security measures.
Its free basic assessment for SMEs offers entrepreneurs an accessible starting point for reviewing their cybersecurity practices. Participants were encouraged to explore the tool and use its findings to guide their next steps.
